Hey everyone! Yesterday was Father’s day and I hope y’all found a way to make the day special for your dad.
Since it was just Father’s day I figured it would be fitting to talk about our Heavenly Father and how He is the perfect Father.
Here are some Bible verses comparing our earthly father to our Heavenly Father and also some instructions:
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord ; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
God is the example of a perfect Father. Like our dads He loves us unconditionally, He wants what is best for us and cares about the things we care about, He wants to spend time with us and have us talk to Him and ask Him for things we need/want, He corrects us so that we can be better and He does so much more.
Every time I think something is too small or insignificant to ask of God I remember that He is my Father, and He is interested in what’s going on in my life and wants to help.
I particularly like the following passage:
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it ; and let us eat, and be merry:
For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
Isn’t this such a wonderful example of our relationship with God?!!!!!!!! We are far from worthy of being called His children, and yet He forgives us and adorns us in royal clothing! This passage is a great example of what happens when we are saved. (I could go on and on just saying how much I love these verses, but I won’t ‘cause I don’t think that will be very interesting for y’all - lol ).
So what did y’all do for Father’s day? (After church we pretty much just relaxed and ate chips and dip - =D Who here LOVES French Onion Dip?????????????????)
